A national stakeholders’ meeting was convened on 21st January 2026 in Malawi to share and discuss findings from the APT-Sepsis Study.

The event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Health, supply chain, professional associations, implementing partners, hospital leadership, Champions, and media, enabling rich cross‑sector dialogue on policy and health system strengthening.

The meeting was officiated by the Director of Emergency Medical Services in Malawi Dr Judith Mkwaila and the Deputy Director of the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Programme, Prof Janelisa Musaya.

Key findings from the APT Sepsis Study were presented, highlighting the burden of sepsis and existing gaps in early detection and management. Discussions also covered antimicrobial stewardship challenges and supply chain considerations.

Stakeholders engaged in constructive dialogue through a panel discussion on leveraging the study results to inform policy, strengthen clinical guidelines, improve supply chain readiness, and support coordinated implementation across different levels of the health system.

There was strong consensus on the need for continued collaboration among the Ministry of Health, implementing partners, professional bodies, hospital leadership, champions, and the media to ensure effective dissemination and uptake of the study recommendations.
